Assignment 6
.What makes an image cliché?
According to the dictionary a cliché is: a trite, stereotyped expression; a sentence or phrase, usually expressing a popular or common thought or idea, that has lost originality, ingenuity, and impact by long overuse
I chose a picture of the prince putting on cideralles glass shoe….Happy ever after.
What is a metaphor?
According to project number three’s guide line, a metaphor is defined as a Figurative language: a thing regarded as representative or symbolic of something else, especially something abstract; not literally applicable.
I chose a weed that most people use to make whises…
How does it function?
A metaphor can function many different ways, but the main purpose I think is to get others to think about what’s being presented, to understand how things that are different be the same. It shows others how the individual see the world.
Why is it important?
I think it is important because it allows for others to understand the individual. To see beyond what’s really seen. It opens a door of communication between the person who is showing something and the person who is perceiving that something.

What are the major themes in digital art and why?
There are many themes in digital art but I would have to say that computers are a major tool to keep digital art a float. People use many insulation art, also performance art, but what I didn’t realize was the simple fact of the internet and the access billions of people gain to be part of some type of digital art without realizing where it came from, who made it or how it even works. In my opinion all the thing that we can do digitally because of the technology that we have it really scary. Where do we draw the line or say enough is enough. As a society we keep wanting to expand on things that are out of our reach but when we happen to reach that goal we are never really satisfied because there is always to do more to be and more to find. There are really good aspects that come for digital art but with everything else there are bad stuff too, and with the way things are going who knows where we are going to end up. Personally I see us going in a dystopian society because us humans don’t know when to stop or say enough is enough and what will happen if one day for no reason computers stopped working, or you couldn’t make phone calls will we as humans really be ready or prepared for that kind of life. Now it may seem that I have gone off topic with this question but this is what comes to mind when I read the book and look at all the things that are out there, aren’t other people scared? Should I just go with the flow and see where we end up or should I stand up and say that we need to draw a line somewhere to preserve our humanity?

What is the difference between using digital technologies as a tool versus as a medium?
The Difference between using digital technologies as a tool versus as a medium, I think is based on the individual. But to go beyond that I would have to say that digital art is such a broad term and can be taken so many different ways. The way that I personally see it, is that digital art used as a medium is two dimensional and used primarily on the computer compared to digital art used as a tool which tends to be more three dimensional. So how do we break this down? Digital art can entail installation, performance, interactive with the viewer, architecture and more considered to be multimedia art. According to wikipedia’s definition, “Digital art is an umbrella term for a range of artistic works and practices that exploit digital technology. Since the 1970s various names have been used to describe what is now called digital art including computer art and multimedia art but digital art is itself placed under the larger umbrella term new media art”. Lets not forget to mention that digital art can also create a virtual reality. So again where is the breaking point between medium and tool my example would be with photography? You can call yourself a photographer but use digital as a tool or you could just call your self a digital photographer cause lets face it our future is in the digital world whether you incorporate it into other styles or give it its own name. I think that even if you use digital art as a tool it can still be considered a form of medium or vice versa.
